Guitar Lessons

I am deliberating as to whether to set up a subscription to join Active Melody. It’s run by a guitarist and teacher named Brian Sherrill and for $12 per month I will have access to all the available past lessons, the tablature and the jam tracks, which are free to download to play over. Plus, the ability to post in the forums and many more things besides. It has attracted some bigger names as well. The actor, James Woods as an example, is a subscriber.

Below is a taste of one of his guitar lessons. I like his approach to playing guitar. Melodic but never too technical.

  1. I say, do what feels right for you, Jay.

I have tried learning guitar stuff from internet videos and I found it frustrating and a waste of my time. I need human interaction. But the video lessons might work really well for you! And it is a really inexpensive alternative to in-person lessons.

I wish you success in your musical journey!🎸🎼🙏🤗

    1. I’m the total opposite. I found face-to-face/ in real life lessons to be how you regard internet lessons. The fact Brian plays similarly to the way I do and seems to enjoy the same kinds of musicians and the fact he breaks everything down as well as enabling free downloadable jam tracks is great. You’re actually learning to fit your playing into those tracks, rather than teaching a way to play within say an A Minor scale and then leaving us to find a relevant backing track, which I find almost never works for me.

      1. Thank you my friend.

By the way, I have reached the extent of my internet data allowance for this month so I won’t be around until it resets itself, which will be somewhere around the 7th or 8th March.

        I’ll see you then xx
